You’re surrounded by content in all these forms whenever you’re online, but it’s easy to forget that everything that appears as part of your online experience has been made or selected, by either a content creator or editor.
Now that you’ve considered the content you see, it’s time to think about why it’s there. The intent behind your content (what it is for) should play a huge part in your decisions about what content to post online.
In this lesson, we hear from Hayley Dunlop who creates content as part of her job as a copywriter.
Written content can use language to influence response or create a particular feeling.
It’s now time to think about how to make written content appealing and engaging, whatever the tone used or intention behind it.
Sometimes creating content can be about turning fairly boring or neutral facts into something more accessible, interesting or entertaining and which will resonate with your target audience.
The following are examples of how the text could be presented in different ways. After each, there’ll be an explanation of the thinking behind each transformation, and things to look out for.
All online content should aim to inform and inspire your audience.
Understanding your potential audience will also help you to make smart choices about content, making it more effective in conveying your intended messages.
When you’re deciding what your content will be, you’ll need to remember that some platforms place formatting restrictions on the content you want to create.
